Bioshock Infinite - Backing up your Savegame.

If you've been playing Bioshock Infinite and lost your game due to corruption of the savegame file, your frustration is in good company. Especially with the I7 random crash problems - You can find a fix for the random crashes in my Bioshock Infinite Random Crash Fix post.

Why 2k games/Irrational games insist on not allowing multiple saves for the Bioshock series is beyond my grasp of comprehension, but that doesn't mean you have to let their lack of good judgement affect your enjoyment of the game. Maybe it is just me, but having to start all over again after a crash and savegame data corruption, is enough to make me toss a product in the trash before I consider attempting a replay.

Here's how to protect yourself from this enjoyment killing lack of foresight by the developers.

Bioshock Infinite Save Game Backup.

First, Disable Steams Cloud Syncronization, or play without Steam. Learn how in my post, How to Play Bioshock Infinite without Steam.  Please mind the disclaimer: Do this at your own risk!
The same goes for making backups of your savegame files.

1. Locate your savegame folder for Bioshock Infinite.
This could be in many locations. Here are the locations from most probable to least probable.

64bit system:
[steam install directory*]\Steam\userdata\[Steam ID]\8870\remote\savedata\
*default is C:\Program Files (x86)\

32bit system:
C:\program files\Steam\steamapps\Bioshock Infinite

If you are not using steam, it could be in the following locations:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\BioShock Infinite\
C:\Users\[username]\Documents\BioShock Infinite\
C:\Users\<username>\Application Data\BioshockInfinite\MEMORY\CurrentGame
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\BioShockInfinite

2. Once you have located the savegame folder, create a new folder inside that folder with whatever name you want to call your backup. Place the savegame in that folder. When there are no savegames in the folder, the game will create a new savegame. If you copy the savegame into both folders, the one in the main folder will be playable and continuable.

3. Repleat this process for as many savegames as you want.
